Actually I was only able to upload the Player text file from that location.

The other refused to upload with this message: C:\fakepath\Player.log is not supported

No idea if that is relevant to anything!

Ok, this changes things - just tried another PBEM and had the same error.

I also just tried using my Steam version of Warplan and the same result.

"Make sure WarPlan is on the safe app list." - do you mean within my antivirus?

"If you have issues you can also let it run as admin." Do you mean login to windows as admin?

Thanks

EDIT - I tried disabling my antivirus but no difference. The odd thing is that everything was working fine, then suddenly this out of the blue with no obvious/deliberate change to my system setup

I had a similar problem a few weeks with Malwarebytes. Luckily they sorted it out v. quickly and without my having to do anything. You might want to contact your anti-virus software supplier

Full disclosure I know nothing about computers so my advice may well be drivel

Usually these errors are just that. Permissions. You could try to reinstall the game from Steam.

make sure the version in the main menu of THE GAME not matrix opener says 1.00.091

Ok, tried the reinstall but no change.

When you say permissions, are you referring to anti-virus? Because as mentioned before, I tried turning my anti-virus entirely off but to no avail. And in any case, the software is being allowed to communicate to the internet because it is loading the turns, logging me in successfully etc?

Have you had any news on what the 'general error' refers to?

As stated above, this same error is occurring on my Steam (official) version, and my Matrix Beta install.

EDIT: double checked that Warplan is allowed by my windows firewall and by my third party anti-virus (which has always been the case because I have been playing PBEM for the last 3 months).

I'm beginning to suspect that the Matrix server has somehow flagged my account/IP address to not allow me to save to their server. What is this mysterious 'error 15'?

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. What are Malwarebytes exactly? As in my post above, I suspect it's not my anti-virus cos the same problem occurs when I turn my anti-virus off.

Malwarebytes is anti-virus stuff. It's apparently better than McAffee etc for some things but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Have you asked matrix support?

I haven't asked Matrix support - I got the sense that was what you were doing Alvaro? Or should I be contacting them myself directly?

Try it again... if it doesn't work put in a ticket. When you get an error code it is almost always a server/anti-virus issue.

And put the name of the error. "General Error - please try again." is error code 15. Be sure to put that in.

I couldn't access matrix/slitherine to report (access refused as they were dodgy sites ) which which is why I contacted Malwarebytes so you may have to do that
