How do I drop paras?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

How do I drop paras?

Post by sillyflower »

Pathetically I have never done one before even though I started playing wite the day it came out, albeit with a break of a few years, so it's about time I get my 1st jump in.
I have fully fit paras on a stack of transports on the same hex for a couple of turns. Manual does not seem to explain.

Tx for any explanation

Scratching behind your left ear 3 times I think is the key.

Thanks Kilo and to the others who posted on the other thread.
My attempted drop met all the criteria for dropping. However.after 90 minutes of trying every version of the instructions, including those in the amended manual, I had to admit defeat.

And when you finally made it your para got wiped out first turn. Sorry I'm just kidding. [;)]

This is what says in 16.3.5.4 the ammended manual. Are you sure that all the criteria have been met particularly the bits in bold.

'Regimental or brigade sized Airborne type combat units with an average experience level of at least forty can be airdropped into any hex vacant of enemy units that is within 8 hexes of a supplied friendly unit. The eligible airborne combat unit must have at least one movement point remaining and be located in the same hex as a staging airbase unit (16.1.3). The airdrop mission can be conducted only by transport air group units with aircraft that have a maximum load rating (5.4.18) of at least 2000, further, the number of 'Max Sorties' must at least equal the number of 'Required Sorties' for the air group units selected to conduct the mission as displayed in the 'Pick Air Units for Mission' window. The mission can be escorted by fighter air group units. (5.3.9.3).'

This would have been preferable because at least I could now do others and the loss of 1 para to gain such knowledge would be a great result
