Spotting by seaplanes

Post by mdsmall »

Can seaplane carriers carry out a recon against an empty sea hex? I assumed they could but when I target an empty hex within range, dynamic movement wants to move the ship there, not its planes. This seems to be the case in both Recon and Recon and Bomb mode. Is there something I am missing?

Hold down the shift key while doing it. It's kind of a twitch skill. It took me a long time to figure that out in WiE. I don't exactly remember how I found out, but it wasn't jumping out of the manual.

Another neat function is holding down the cntl key while running your subs silent. You can stitch waypoints out...and your sub will take the whole pattern without stopping till the last waypoint after you lift your finger off the key. You can make patterned patrols and spot whole picket fences that way. Same thing, it's a twitch skill...just don't accidentally be pushing down on the shift key like I've done when attempting it :)

I'm glad I asked! I would never have figure that out. A friend told me about how to use the CTRL key to plot way-faring. It is helpful for doing naval cruise moves as well.

The Hotkeys for the game can be viewed via one of the buttons at the top right of the screen, I just say this as they might include other gems that might be of use! [:)]
