Who takes control of conquered countries?

Hi,

Playing as CW. A few script changes chosen - no Africa corp, no nukes, soft build, no oil embargo on Japan etc.

It's all gone well. Threw the Italians out of north/northeast Africa and confiscated all their pasta. Defended Malaya , took Thailand and am about to take Indochina. The Japs are doing very well against China though and are invading Burma which is a worry.

Spain decaled war on me! So i sent some troops from the UK and N Africa to teach them a lesson. I invaded from the north and south and went through the country like a hot knife through butter (that was having a siesta).

The vast majority of units that achieved this were British, but the unit that took Madrid (by accident) was Indian. All the MPPs for Spain have now gone to India. Is that the way the game works? Whatever nation occupies the capital gets all the MPP?

Spain has not surrenedered yet. Madrid is 'occupied' not surrendered. Presumably I have to take the Canary Islands or something before that happens. When I do so so, will the Spanish MPPs go to the UK?

Yes, that's right as the one who takes the capital is the conqueror.

That said, if Spain has not yet surrendered then moving the Indian unit out and moving in (not operating) a British one may make it surrender to the UK. I'm not 100% certain of this mind, but it's worth a try if you'd rather the UK became the conqueror.

It is. Last unit to move into or thru the capital gets the credit/plunder.
