DOUG OUT DOUG, AND THE REST OF THE WORLD, WONDERS WHERE ON EARTH ARE THOSE 3 JAP ARMORED DIVISIONS.
RE: Rising Sun, Falling Skies: BTSL Bigred vs John 3rd
Jap paras have landed on the 2/6 and 2/9 armored regiments.
Both are equipped with 24 Lee/Grant and 12 Stuarts. The 2/9 was in strat mode(on rail head getting ready for R&R down south) recovering from the first shock attack against the 5th IJA div(shock sacrifice to freeze the escape move of the div). IIRC it had 4 serviceable and about 16 disabled tanks.

My first thought was a Bridge too Far where the brits landed on the 9SS Panzer div kampgruppe.

The division was told to expect only limited resistance from German reserve forces. A serious challenge to their operation was not expected and many men believed that their work would lead to the ending of the war.[18] Some – anticipating a period of occupation in Germany – packed leisure equipment in their kit or in the sea tail.[19] Browning's intelligence officer – Major Brian Urquhart — obtained information from the 21st Army Group in Belgium and Dutch resistance that German armour was present around Arnhem. This was backed up with aerial reconnaissance that he ordered to be flown.[20] Browning was dismissive and ordered his chief medical officer to have Urquhart sent on sick leave.[21] In fact, SHAEF was aware that there were almost certainly two Panzer divisions at Arnhem but with the operation looming chose to ignore them.[20] Such information would have been gleaned from Ultra intercepts that the First Allied Airborne Army was not privy to and therefore could not act upon themselves.[20]

OK. Time to speak the truth.
I saw what Paul was doing about 10 turns ago and purposefully allowed it to happen. The Para Brigade had just landed at Darwin. Shifted its prep to Cloncurry (was 39 when they jumped) and used the 5th ID to try and SUCK Allied ground units towards it and away from Cloncurry. At the same time, I dispatched two TK Regiments and a Brigade from the southward drive on Cairns and Townsville towards the fight.
This was a reasoned gamble as I hoped to capture the base and open a retreat option for the 5th. Due to the weather, nearly 150 bombers did not fly and that made all the difference for the Para Assault. Crap!
Oh, well...the war shall go on...

I feel alittle sorry for John He made another drop on top of 3 ar regiments in strat mode railing thru an empty town hex. Then I think about what he is trying to do to me.

Think of the poor people on the train trying to get their tanks off it. You don't do that fast.

8-22c: Para assaults are very weak. Jap Objective was to cut the rail supply, not hold the hex.

Hold until relieved, hold until relieved, or killed in place.
