Diplomacy

Hi there, could you please clarify how diplomacy works with other factions?
I mean, is there a way to contact other leaders directly, have peace or non-aggression, trade treaties and so on?
Or, the player can interact with other factions only while at war or by offering protection to minors?

Yeah, plenty of stuff to do diplomatically, (mostly via stratagems), in fact there's a whole Foreign Affairs Council that you can create which allows for advanced diplomacy !
