Does building fortifications increase AA value?

Hello all.
Im currently going through my bases and expanding them as per Kull,s most excellent spreadsheet.
When you build fortifications does it also increase the overall AA defence value?

The question is ambiguous.

Is it asking, "Does it increase your anti-aircraft capability - ability to shoot down planes"?

Or is it asking, "Does it increase your defense against aircraft - reducing the amount of damage your units take from a bombing raid?"

However, once the base gets large enough in both port and/or airbase, then the number of barrage balloons depends upon the fortification level. That is, if I remember correctly.

Sorry chaps, I should have been more precise. If you click on say Sydney, it brings up the main card. In the bottom left corner the is a "Flak" value of 4.
Does this increase when you build more fortifications?
Or does fortification mean just hardened structures?

Pretty sure that number just refers to flak units. If you increase the number/capability of AA units that number should go up as well, reflecting how powerful your overall flak defenses are.
Fortifications help in reducing the damage from bombing attacks. Also the larger the base size (airfield, for example) the harder it is to knock out.

AAA of a base is handled abstractly. That number represents the number of 'Flak' guns divided by six (for the hexagon). These 'guns' are of any caliber from rifle caliber MG's up to the heaviest in the game. How the algorithm handles their strength is 'under the hood' and not know to us peons.[:)]

Yes. That is exactly what forts are for - against any kind of attack.

Correct. It is a multiplier on the number of balloons, so long as the minimum base size is met. I think that is combined port/AF level 6 or 7.
