event driven increase or decrease in force supply

Post by cathar1244 »

Wondering if anyone knows this without having to build a test scenario. Two different kinds of guidance here. One is from the TOAW manual, and the other is from the "Evil Ed" document.

TOAW manual:
Force 1 or 2 Force Supply Stockpile Level Is
Increased: ... by a given percentage.

Force 1 or 2 Force Supply Stockpile Level Is
Decreased: ... by a given percentage.

Evil Ed document:
Note that unlike replacements events, the supply events works like plus and minus. That is to say NOT as a multiplier. (Ilkka)

-------------

So are these two sources saying that a given percentage is either added to or subtracted from the force supply level?

Lose the manual.

My experience has been that this is an additive event. A stockpile of 60 gets increased by 10 and ends up at 70. If it were a percentage increase the new stockpile would be 66 (60 + 10%) and that is not what’s happening.

In the manual (paragraph 17.9.4) the word “percentage” should be replaced by the word “integer”. Suggest this as a change to the manual civilian version.

I know we all dislike testing to see how things really work but given the inaccuracy of the manual and the changes made in the game testing is the only way to be sure. [;)]

Thanks RB!

I thought I recalled something odd about that event.

Lobster, yes. I'm trying to bring an old scenario to compatibility with TOAW IV. Figured if someone knows off the top of their head, then it is all good. Setting up test scenarios can take a while, and longer if something is set up poorly.

I recently found out the version of TOAWIV I'm using to make a new equipment database does not have the same multiplier for Anti Personnel as does the current release version. [:D]

Looks like that version you show has 'normalized' the AP ratings so everything has x8 factor versus the dual system in the current release.

Re: rating aircraft. When I was working on my scheme to develop TOAW-compatible aircraft ratings, I noticed many of the aircraft ranges in TOAW could stand scrutiny.

Have you made a new eqp file? I was using SWWDB for quite awhile.

Glad to hear it was useful.

I have not made one since then. JosAnt's equipment file is very good.

If you're interested in my take on a piece of equipment, let me know. I've made progress on things like AA values for guns and such.

If memory is correct, when Variable Supply Points were added the Event was changed from a % to a Number, so that we could remove a Point by a Zero Value Event.
In the manual (paragraph 17.9.4) the word “percentage” should be replaced by the word “integer”. Suggest this as a change to the manual civilian version.
Thanks, will do.

Civilian manual (thanks Steve!) mentions:
9.1.7.4. Variable Supply Points
Under these New Supply Rules, designers can also set supply levels for supply points (either initially or through events) to values between 1-250%-of full. Default is 100%, of course. When there are multiple points of different values, locations trace back to the point that will give each location the best supply value – even if further away.

So the correct understanding is that a supply point value is a percentage of the force supply rating?

Yes, Supply Points are a Percentage of the Supply Level. This includes Variable Supply Points, which of course are Supply Points.
