Electronic Version of the ASL Handbook now available

It is nothing more than an hyperlinked PDF, but all the correction and the additions will be available for free (as it is normal for those who choose to publish in e-format).
Time to whip out my iPad Pro and see if I can finally tackle ASL [:)]

Perhaps a teaser for the digital version? [:)]

MMP wants 60 bucks for a watermarked pdf.
I have more than one version that is 'not official' but entirely adequate. As will most of the ASL hardcore community.
You don't need to pay for it. You just need to know who to ask.

Well, I know (cough...) However my honest impression is that MMP was aware of that and decided to come out with an excellent e-product.ORIGINAL: MrsWargamer

The ASLrati are quite happy and on a first glance I agree that the work done on this project is quite marvelous - and not comparable with "that other thing"...

This is another sample. Again, everything in red is hyperlinked. It is nice to have all the relevant rules for vehicles colletted under the same "roof" [:)]

Can it be read on ebook reader? One thing that bogs my mind is that there are 50-60$ "ebooks" that aren't even formatted for reading on ereaders. Encountered that phenomena when I bought Dark Heresy bundle.

MMP's has more polish, no argument there. As they say, you get what you pay for.
I have one that is modestly hyperlinked.

Yes.
It’s well worth the $60 bucks. I have seen all the free ones and they dont compare to MMPs official version. Hearing they will continue to update it with errata and the HASL chapters as well as the SASL chapters.
It also includes Chapters D, E, G and the Korean War chapters.

PDFs wildly differ in their readability on ebook readers, though. Ebooks usually don't cost much less than paper books because they require specialised formatting to make them look decently on screen.ORIGINAL: RFalvo69

Then I can't help you, unless I know which kind of ebook reader you have. Or you can post your question on the relevant thread at Gamesquad:ORIGINAL: Perturabo

In MrsWargamer's defense, she is not talking about the "Official MMP eASL Rule book", prior to this coming out there have been several groups (four that I know of) that have created their own eASL Rule books over the last 10 years or so.
So I think that she is referencing those free "un-official" versions. I have seen them (the four I mentioned) they are okay to good, but hands down the "Official MMP" version is the best in my view and well worth the $60 investment. Small change in comparison to most ASL products (the last time I check the hard copy rule book which does not contain Chapters F, G, and W) was $80 + shipping.

RE: Electronic Version of the ASL Handbook now available
In my opinion there are four items that make this investment worth it:
- Portability: that's self-explaining. I can read the ASL Manual while I'm in bed with my tablet.
- The wonderful work made by MMP on the hyperlink side. It is just amazing, and it beats anything... let's say "done by yourself".
- The completeness: it has everything. The complete Chapter H alone is symbolic of this product's value.
- Upgrades and updates: free forever and one click away. No more need to buy a product to find the latest erratas, cut them and paste them on the manual.
The only thing that miffs me is that when I decided to learn ASL I bought the "Pocket Edition" of the Rulebook - and this e-version just obliterates it. Money down the drain but... amen to that.

Thanks for that. Yes, I'm only stating that is you want the earlier independent creations, they are out there.
If I had the purchased real one, I wouldn't be offering to give it away. Not for moral or any other reasons. I just don't think it's cool to screw over my hobby.

RE: Electronic Version of the ASL Handbook now available
I've been getting back into ASL after many years ago. Bought the binder...too bulky to be usable. Bought the pocket rulebook--font too small. Got one of the unofficial eASLRB versions--pretty good but incomplete and not entirely up-to-date. So I bought the official EASLRB and am quite pleased with it; supposedly it will be updated and more chapters will be added over time.
I read it on GoodReader on my iPad. I would not attempt to read it (or any other pdf) on a Kindle device. GoodReader is, well, good, because I can zoom in to read the pdf and advance to the next page without losing my zoom level, which is usually the thing that I reading pdfs on a tablet (or phone).

Reading the page up above about the PzKpfw 38[t] I actually tried to turn the page. Lol!
So this book is a must.
or would be if I hadn't sold the entire collection at the start of lockdown.
