from my game w/ David (v1.9) just finished Sovs turn 9.
The frumpish fellow I photoshopped in there is Ivan Boldin.
Don't know much about him. He looks tired.
No doubt, trying to hold Kishiney. Fingers crossed!
From the situation briefing, it looks like the German shock has dropped to 120 ...
I expect David will be using a Shock Chit soon!

What are the combat values showing? Is it stack values?
They just seem so high :)

Harrison, traditional Russian name. [;)]

Boldin, busy fellow early on. Proved very capable of getting surrounded and then fighting his way out. [:D]

So, the last game David and I played we reached the beginning of the first Soviet Winter Offensive, our
agreed "point of decision" and .... SUDDENLY, A RIP IN THE FABRIC OF SPACE AND TIME HURLED US BACK
TO JUNE 1941, and so we begin anew.

This is becoming to be a really fun game for us; I used to look at it as a
chore to play but playing the Soviets has become a lot of fun for me, firing up Sacred War, booming the artillery and other news reels for atmosphere, putting on my fake Stalin mustache, learning about the Soviet Generals, carefully tending the Gardens of Reinforcements at Chelyabinsk, Gorki, and Kazan ... really fascinating stuff to be found in FitE2 (like the notorious Partisan unit P Harrison :)--

I am really glad to have encountered Mr. David, he's a really fun opponent. Well, this is our 4th? 5th? stab at
"the Beast" and I am hoping that we will reach turn 70+ this go, if not complete a 400 turner. Estimated run rate
to complete the game from this start point for us is about 16 months.

SO, now we are at turn 5 again, and Mr. D has taken the first three cities for the shock bonus etc. and ...
here is Ukraine area: Kiev (SW Front HQ there). Farther North Mr. D has decimated the Sovs and is knocking
at the Gates of Minsk.

@ Soviets T10

Germans drove up to Opochka. Mr David said, "where are the Russians?"
Then 21st Mech showed. Check that load of brass on Lelyushenko,
man, after the war he must have had a personal detail just to carry that stuff for him.
Hero x2, Order of Lenin x 6, Red Banner x 4, about a boatload of other stuff,
this dude must have been a Tyronosaurus Max,
sheesh

Palovski Harrison... Cant figure out if its a code or an actual person.
Pavlovskiy its an actual person.
Pavlovskiy Fyodor Illarionovich (Павловский Фёдор Илларионович) - http://www.warheroes.ru/hero/hero.asp?Hero_id=5679
On beginning of the July 1941 he organised the partisan unit that had a sucess. On 6 August 1941 he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union also Order of Lenin and the medal The Golden Star.
About January 1942 his partisan unit and some others local partisan units was re-organised to more larger that got a name "Pavlovskiy's garrison" ("гарнизон Павловского").

That is so cool, thank you for that one....so I guess that unit should be P Garrison, is that right? Not P Harrison?

Heh. I liked the one with Top screaming, "WHERE THE BLANK IS HARRISON *this* time???" LoL.

Thanks for the link, that is very cool!

Lelyushenko finds a copy of German film footage, obviously sent to East Front Wehrmacht soldiers to bolster their morale! Skip to about 3:40 for good shooty parts ....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL_H8X5B0i0

Now awaiting Mr. Dave's German move 15 .....
Lelyushenko now reported MIA. Partisans / Remnant are searching nearby woods and swamp for him.
Holed up with some cozy bear in the bear's den, no doubt. That is one tough hombre.

But the Major Sergeant's intrepid actions have bought time to give the Soviets a bit of breathing room! Great game!

When last we observed our intrepid combatants, the Soviets managed to race to Helsinki reaching that city just prior to the ’41 Mudpakolypse Blizzardski, forcing the Finns off the map and leaving AGC literally less than 50KM from Moscow but facing fierce fire from fifty billion artillery pieces “manned” by the Night Moles (58th Babushka Corps).

At the last moment, a deranged Finnish scientist pulled his “dead man” switch ... AND THE FABRICS OF SPATIAL HOLDER TOGETHERS ONCE AGAIN ARE TORN ASUNDER AND THROWS THE WAR INTO ANOTHER TIME WARP.

As the smoke clears, we see the Old Calendar has been put back to Summer ’41.

Mankind is once again ... at WAR!

Glorious Sacred War! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viUnzgXPrDg

(best enjoyed chilled to .75 playback speed) 8--}

Let’s meet the Soviet Highest Echelon (strangely, the Finnish Time Warp somehow CLONED that one guy!) Oh wait, no, that's another guy.

More meat for the grinder :) Here is my own meager attempt at infusing some "TOAW: Kommanders" of my own making. It is just photo-shopped.

OH PPS I figured out the NKVD RR Divisions and the rationale (I think) of why they move how they do...the unit w/ an Armored Train in it, you subdivide him into 3, keep the 1/3 (with the train) on the track, but the 2/3 and 3/3 sub-units w/ their cool NKVD sub-machine guns, they can then roam the nearby woods. Pretty cool :)

At the beginning of Soviets T10 I opened Mr D's pbl to watch the replay,
and see that the smoke is still clearing from the time switch. The map seems
to have rolled a 20, full on Fog of War for this replay. Here is Minsk

Sweet game, sweet design
