You need a lovely, young lady to massage you. In fact I know one, I watched her grow up. She went to school for training to do that. Or as I said to her "I heard that you are going to go to school to learn how to rub warm oil into naked bodies." Or something like that. She giggled, smiled, then said yes. She also thought that it did not snow in Atlanta, Georgia.

That sounds like a personal problem with your wife in that she would not want you to get a medical treatment to help alleviate your pain.[;)]

A lovely day yesterday and most of the snow is gone so I took a walk around the pond. Sadly one of the Koi was a floater and some birds were feasting on another large fish that did not look like a koi - where did that come from. But in any case I am now short a koi, and they are not cheap.

I remember reading about a place, maybe a mall in Winnipeg, that had Koi in a pool there. The Koi slowly disappeared but no one was seen stealing the Koi. Then more Koi were added. But the flock of birds kept coming back as their free lunch slowly disappeared. [:D]

That was my story about the government office where I worked that had a large pond to control stormwater runoff. The staff bought some goldfish from the mall nearby and put these little guys in the pond. Goldfish will grow to a huge size if they have enough space and food. The pond had lots of space and the building had a patio off the cafeteria that bordered the pond- so the staff threw bread bits and such in the pond. After a few years there were fish in the 1lb + range, lots of them gold, some gold and white and some with black patches. The schools formed long coloured streaks across the pond surface.

There were a few herons at the edge of the pond from early on (frogs there too) but a few years after the fish population exploded, some migrating cormorants discovered the banquet and took up residence as long as they could before winter set in. They would dive and eat for a while, then fly to the roof edge and spread their wings to catch the sun. After about three years of that the population of the pond was much less and predominantly black fish, no more gold streaks across the surface! Natural selection in action!

GRUMP !

My brother in law is sick, and was tested yesterday afternoon for Covid. They said he would have the result this morning, before 11AM.

The whole family lives in the same big house, so if he’s positive, I’ll need to quarantine myself (well, all my family, really).

If I do, I have to make a call to a deputy judge, to preside my court hearing of tomorrow morning.

It’s now 4PM, and no results.

My brother in law is waiting.

My sister is waiting.

My family is waiting.

I’m waiting.

My deputy is waiting.

My clerk is waiting.

The clerk of my court’s presiding judge is waiting (she’ll have to sign paperworks to allow my deputy to hold the hearing).

That’s Belgium...

Nope, no USPS involved!

GRUMP!!!

I complained to my organization but I should not have. I should have waited for the Monday after I should have received that paper, then called my stepmother to contact a lawyers office in town to ask how come I did not receive said paper so I could come home.

You see, they say that it rolls downhill and picks up speed. That lawyer could have asked someone in the Federal government why I did not have said paper. The question would have come down to my organization. Yup, that lawyer was my Congressional representative who was from my hometown. Think if he would have contacted the Secretary of Defense asking why I did not have my discharge paperwork . . . [:D]

One of the things I was managing before I retired was 'the mailroom' To be honest it was a long time mail mgmt guy who did the real mgmt - I was just mgmt. But an entertaining learning experience. UPS, FedEX and even USPS will strive to deliver things as quickly as possible because they want it out of their system (tick that box sort of thing). So, when you order online, unless you really need it quickly don't bother paying extra for quick delivery - it will likely show up sooner than they promise you. But USPS was the worst. We got cheaper next day delivery rates from UPS than USPS. And USPS doesn't actually scan mail for bad things in the mail. They only look for one deadly substance. You would have to get your own sniffing dog to find the rest. And they are not cheap. Dog and handler are like $250k per year.
