works with no issues on steam,.

tried and tested as per normal for you all

these setting worked best for me, for everyone else, it's trial and error and a game restart once altered, doesn't take 2 sec's tbh, so not an issue and a pleasure to play as always

Not sure if Use DPI and the Scale Front and Scale UI can or should be used together???

DPI is a Windows user setting that applies a percentage to all apps that allow DPI scaling and to all parts of the app (graphics, text, etc.)

CC Scale Front (menu screens) applies 1.5x

CC Scale UI (in battle) applies 2.0x to the UI elements only. So the explosions, map, men, smoke, vehicles, etc. are all not changed.

I updated the January 2021 update and the classic version now works however when I go to launch Watch am Rhien I get the message.

not enough entries in FP data for class 0, date 0 strength 0

Have you seen this before?

Running current version of W10 I haven't installed CC last stand or longest day assuming I will get the same problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Hi Curly1 -- that error indicates there is a problem with the game data files. Usually this only happens if you have installed a mod or have been modifying the data files yourself. This error shouldn't have anything to do with Windows 10.

I assume you're using the download version of WaR and not the Steam version? Can you try a clean install of the game and see if you still get the error?

That's odd. I have just re-installed a new copy of Wacht am Rhein and then downloaded the latest update here:

https://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/CloseCo ... .32.01.zip

After this the game runs both standard and classic without an error.

Are you getting that error while running the new version of the game or the classic version?

I just did an uninstall and reinstall with the dvd and updated the patch using your link and get the same error.

I did notice the patch zip was a a little larger than the original one I downloaded from the matrix site.

Steve I replace the file and the game starts to the main menu but the game selection tabs are empty so no where to go from there.

And the file you sent was bigger than the one in the folder.

Hi Curly1 -- if the game selection tabs (battles, operations, campaigns, etc.) are all empty the game can't find any compatible scenario files in the expected location. These files should be in the folders Data\Battles, Data\Ops, and Data\Campaign under the game install folder.

Please try this and let me know if it works: Reinstall from the discs, then install the 4.50.14 update found here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/game/close- ... t-am-rhein

This version should run correctly. Assuming it does run correctly, then install the 4.50.32 update. I believe this will resolve the issue.

I will investigate which files may be missing from the 4.50.32 update.

Steve ,

Yes those files were in the folders.

I uninstalled and reinstalled from the downloaded game instead of the disc.

It appears to be working now. But I will have to play a game to see how it goes.

If this works out I will install Arnhem and Longest day from the DL files also instead of the discs and apply the updates I haven't installed thos two games et in W10.

I will update how it goes. Thanx.

I have not heard of any issues. Was there a problem with the setup program failing or the game not running after setup was complete?

If the setup succeeded but the game doesn't run, try using Windows Explorer and run the game executable (CCE.EXE) 'As Administrator' one time. This has been said to resolve some issues if Windows 11 prevents the game from creating some folders/files it creates when it is run for the first time. If this works you shouldn't need to run 'As Administrator' after.
