Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

I use the Editor to set the HQs color. Save them in the file. Quit the Editor. All HQs color are gone after reload. How do we retain the color?

Yes you can. Looks like you have the colours turn off, try shift-I. Futher you can edit the colours from the HQ screen of all HQ units.

I think what your looking for is the ability to have a custom preference file for settings that includes your custom HQ colours, saved as preferences and called on in game start rather than default settings, if the editor is not set up to retain the changes, or is overridden on start up, you will have to change it so that it does, or change the colours once in the editor, save the scn with these changes along with any others and load that custom scn as your default start as it will have your custom preferences.

a) How do we set up a preference file.
b) Is it a simple way that the Editor can read back all data in csv file?

Thanks your advice.

Game generates one for you, useing your custom settings, Moral advantage, FoW, etc, and uses/remembers them next time you initialise the game, rather than use default settings, what you would need to do is add in your HQ changes to this, that’s the complicated way, involving adding new code to remember new default settings.

It may be that HQ colour changes are not saved in the data for the scn, ( or in a save game ?, did you look atsave games to see if it has colour changes stored) the cvs, hence it uses default settings, if you don’t see your custom changes to HQ from loading a custom scn, then changing code is your best way forward.

Pick a scenario to play. Change the HQ color. Save the game in .sav. Exit the game. Reload the saved game to confirm the change. Identify the file and rename it from .sav to .scn. Load .scn in the Editor. Unfortunately, the change is not there! If I load the generic file, make the change and save it, will it work? Quite desperate!
