You should consider having an ASW TF with your carriers by Port Moresby.
Didn't have extra DDs, considering that CV TF had 15 or 16 DDs. That was bit of a risk, but area was well under naval search too.

I am afraid to send SCTF anywhere in DEI where they cannot get back to base during day movement.
Too many Betties/Nells/Kates/Vals around...might have to evacuate them soon(ish).
Some strategic musings:
- Philippines is toast, only Bataan left in Luzon.
- I don't think I can hold Burma much longer, so withdrawal to India has started. Only Rangoon has decent amount of troops, but don't want to lose then either. "Slim Line" has been fortified and manned decently well. Akyab and Cox's Bazar have division each, Chittagong and Imphal have 2 brigades, Kohima has brigade and Bn. Reserve is 6th & 7th AUS Divs and 7th Arm Brigade.
- Java is doing well, considering. Supply is "plentiful" and Dutch have fortified well. Air support is only issue.
- Australia fuel situation is good and more is arriving from Cape Town, Panama and Los Angeles, to Perth and via NZ
- Canton I, Christmas I. and Palmyra are fortified and have enough troops to withstand all but heaviest invasion.
- IJN has expressed continuous interest in Midway, possibly losing CV Zuikaku to mine in process (I consider that unconfirmed)
- all US CVs are currently resting and upgrading air groups, so no ability for offensive operations for couple of weeks at least. Hornet is still training in Panama (Balboa) with surface units. They will join Enterprise and Yorktown later in Sydney.
- Darwin is turning out as submarine base nicely. Have 3 Dutch ARDs and 3 AS there. 56k of fuel too, supplies arriving weekly from Perth too. Only AR or 2 are missing, if lucky, will get 1 AR from Soerabaja, but not counting on that. Japanese air power is starting to be oppressive.
- Midway and Adak I. will be other forward sub bases, as usual. Such arrangements like Darwin would not necessarily work against human Japan player..and even AI has surprised me sometimes. In one game I lost dozen TK in Suva when KB paid a visit. Taught me to use Auckland as fuel hub instead. [:'(]
