Bug? Seaplane abort through Vichy

Post by craigbear »

I was able to abort a German Naval Air (Seaplane) from the West Med through Vichy territory to Bordeaux. The abort was due to AA from ships, if that matters. Not certain this should be allowed without collapsing Vichy.

By the rules, that should collapse Vichy.

I am not sure whether aborting across Metropolitan Vichy France is enough to collapse the Vichy Government. It demands entry to a hex to collapse it.

However, the abort across its territory should not be allowed if Vichy France is neutral.

This is a bug, unless Vichy is hostile and active (that is: not neutral). Can you post a gamesave?

I will check if I can... but the abort from AA will have to be duplicated as I don't believe the abort subphase is saved automatically.

I am not entirely clear how an axis aircraft unit can abort across Metropolitan Vichy France without entering any of its hexes?

I can re-create this variance. On this saved game, the German Do217E in Bordeaux can fly over neutral Vichy France to West Med as a Naval Air move, without causing a Vichy France collapse.

I will attach my file in the bugs thread... the phase will be naval area selection screen. After that, there was a naval air combat and the German air unit was aborted due to AA. It may be difficult to recreate, but it seems that the problem is less specific than my instance in any case.
