[FIXED: Check DPI settings!] Game closing without any error message when loading a scenario

Post by Poisse »

Hello there!

I am trying to launch a game, but to no avail. Every time I try and load any scenario, it closes the game after the "Map hex loading data..." (or something like that) in the small loading window that appears.

I have included my dxdiag; the computer should run it without any issue.

I have tried to change options (fullscreen/windowed; no sound/with sound; low quality/high quality...).

Thanks for any suggestion you might have!

SOLUTION: If you have set your DPI (changing the scaling of the fonts, windows, etc. in Windows to something higher than 100%), you need to go to the settings for WarInTheEast2.exe, Compatibility, Change high DPI settings, and check the first box ("Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings").

Quick questions:

1. Did you allow DirectX 9 to install during the installation process?

2. Have you checked for any graphics/sound driver updates?

I've also asked the dev team to advise.

Can you please try to :

1. Start the game
2. Press "Editor"
3. Press "Load Generic Data" on the bottom

You should see "Generic Data Loaded" on the top.

4. Press "Go to The Map" on the bottom.

All went smoothly until the map was opened. I saw the UI for a split second, and then the game closed without any message.

Just for a test, could you reduce your DPI setting and also try a lower resolution to see if that makes any difference?

So, changing the DPI from 150% to 100% worked, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440!

Let me see if there is a way to assign a 100% DPI to Wite 2 (the rest of Windows is too small for my eyes otherwise).
