Crash While Loading Scenarios

Post by pz501 »

Game installed with no issues, DX9 and Net installation was allowed to happen also.

Opening video, music, etc. play with no problem. Both the quick start and standard run options were used.

When selecting a scenario (I tried both 1941 Campaign and Stalingrad to Berlin) the game has a hard crash, closing the program entirely. Both scenarios appeared to have loaded to about 50% (progress bar) before the crash happened.

I was (briefly) a member of the Beta Team and have never encountered any problems like this before, regardless of which beta version I was using.

DxDiag file attached.

EDIT: I tried the suggested DPI/DPI scaling fix, and the problem still persists with exactly the same behavior.

I've tried the suggested DPI fix, and that is not working.

Double checked my drivers and all are up to date.

As an experiment, I renamed the sound folder, so that no sounds would play, and still no luck (I had seen in the past with other programs that this can fix some issues.)

The only other info I can provide is that just as the crash happens, I get a very short glimpse of what I think could be an error message referring to 'oob'. I wonder if my download was corrupted? No way to tell at this end.

Probably my best course is to wait a bit and see as more problems are solved, rather than clogging up the bandwidth.

Thank you.

Have you tried manually changing your system DPI and resolution as a test to see if that makes any difference?

Eric,

I went into my settings (I have a 4k monitor) and kept my resolution at the native 3840x2160, but changed the text size from the recommended 150% to 125%, and the game runs normally.

Problem appears to have something to do with text size and scaling for HD monitors. Since the text is sort of small for me at 125%, I'll just wait and see what definitive fix is worked out.

I do find it strange that I never encountered this with a beta version, but have with the production one. Thanks for your help, and I'll as I say, wait. Not the end of the world.

It's also quite strange that the pinned fix did not work in this case, it should have. Could you just double-check the application compatibility properties one last time and confirm that they match those in this post exactly:

Eric,

For what it's worth, I double checked the (pinned) fix settings, and they looked good. Then I got radical, uninstalled and then installed. After that I made the pinned fix changes to the .exe and everything now works as it should at the resolution I use. Go figure.....

Thanks again.
