Air Combat test scanrio 14 Allied
Hi, Can we get 10 or more players to volunteer to play a scenario 14 historic settings and keep track of the air to air combat (The actual results not combat text report)
For test you can use Japanese AI. Play 5-10 turns per day, complile air to air and update the running totals.
(I suppose I should be more carefull in my spelling for thread title since you can't edit it)

Mogami, what are you looking for in SC 14.
That is usually the one I play the most, and I have several games saved in various stages of progress. Usually get about two-four turns a day or so, some more now because playing distracts me from my back pain for a while and I don't have to fry my brain on a new setup.

Report
Hi, The month of Sept 42 has been pretty quiet. Last two days have seen air combat. The Allies have spent the month trying to capture Buna and Doladura.
They have Doladura but the 3rd Aus Div is stalled against the 12k Japanese at Buna. I'm FT in reinforcements.
The first daylight raid with Heavy Bombers on Rabaul occured yesterday.
SOPAC has begun reducing Shortlands. Bombardment TF's covered by 3 CV have been hitting there the last 3 nights. The CV surprised a 2 BB IJN TF heading for Lunga 60 miles SE of Shortlands and inflicted heavy damage.

Mogami, check out Torpedo 8.
and see is Waldron is rated 0 Leadership 0 Inspiration. I have him rated that in last three run throughs.
Your losses seem light on the IJN side to my experience with this scenario. I usually have to struggle to keep things flying in PM and Lunga at all - and get clobbered by small Betty and Nell raids escorted by up to 130 fighters. In the first month of the last game I had seven AP/AK sent back to Pearl and three more sunk in these types of raids at PM and Lunga - not to mention six DD's sunk, and five more which managed to make it back to Pearl. I could't have one to one loss rations until November.

Of course, looking at these numbers it's hard to see what trisjohn's complaining about. The only really wiggy results seem to occur when a whole shebang of a/c are together in one stirke. Probably the problem lies somewhere in the assumption that large numbers of a/c could easily be coordinated.
Anyone think a range penalty for large formations containing single engined aircraft seem appropriate?

Let me preface this by saying unless it is an emergency I will not fly low morale or high fatigue fighter groups. On CAP I generally set my aircraft (even P-39) to 12000' as the Japanese generally come in at 10000'. The results are as of 08/14/1942, only air to air included.

Yep, there's the pro-japanese bias again - if that had happened to a US carrier, that would have lost 70 or more planes!USSMaine wrote:End of October 42
