Heading East into the Soviet Union

T02 AGS:

6th Army reduces one pocket and advances to help form another. 17th Army forms two pockets. 1st PG forms a few new pockets that represent the majority of the Soviet front line north of the Rumanian border to the Pripyet Marshes. 11th Army and the Rumanians begin to move eastwards towards Odessa. The Hungarians expand northwards to help form the Stanislav pocket.

T02 Air Movement and Reserves:

I continue to refit the SUs in the reserve and send the full units to the Map. I have two recon squadrons that will be ready to move to the map next turn.

The air transfers are pretty light this turn as I wait for my supply net to catch up to the advanced air bases. I do transfer the Koluft 2 PGr to Pukhovichi, Koluft 17 to Cuniow, and the 1st Royal HAF Field Bde to Starzawa and Przemysl East.

T02 Files:

T03 Supply Net North:

Supply is now beginning to be distributed from post war depots and ports. Riga is still not receiving supplies but Kaunus and Vilnus are now starting to distribute supplies forward.

T03 Supply Net South:

The supply lines have not really moved forward too far on this front. It will take some time to extend the supply net to the east.

T03 Air Phase:

I click and drag on the RECON directives on the map to the new locations I wish to RECON. I have not added the bombers to the Ground Support directives as of yet. I probably will in the next turn or two.

T03 Freight:

Everybody is getting more supplies than needed in the front lines at this time. This will, of course, get worse in the future. But notice that the Ground Commands need about six times than the Air Commands.

T03 AGN:

18th Army is advancing northwards through the Baltic States. 16th Army has eliminated the pockets and is rushing to the front. 4th PG takes Pskov this turn.

T03 AGC:

9th Army is across the Dvina River and helping hold the northern flank. 2nd Army activates and is helping reduce the last of the Bialystok pocket. 4th Army has begun to advance towards the Dnepr River to help 2nd PG to cross. 3rd PG advances to the outskirts of Vitebsk while reforming the pocket that was broken last turn. 2nd PG takes Mogilev and has pushed to the western bank of the Dnepr River.

T03 AGS:

6th Army has eliminated the northern pocket and is advancing after the retreating Soviets. 17th Army is working on elminating the pockets to the south and east of Lvov. 11th Army and the Rumanians continue their advance towards Odessa. 1st PG has a major breakthrough and deep penetration pointing towards Kiev.

T03 Air Movement and Reserves:

I begin to move the recon and fighter AOGs closer to the front lines. The bombers and transports will be moved forward later. I transport supplies closer to the fronts. Koluft 2 is placed on the map along with the two recon squadrons from the Reserve box. I also transfer the Flieger Fuehrer Ostsee to Rumania in preparation for Naval Patrols near Odessa.

T03 Files:

T04 Supply Net North:

AGN is now completely supplied from new depots. The AGC is being supplied from new depots too. Note the supply traces for the rear based air units.

T04 Supply Net South:

The double rail through Lvov is seeing heavy traffic supplying the northern port of this front. Rumania depots supply the rest. Note all of the supply traces in Hungary and Rumania supplying the garrisons.

T04 Air Phase:

Another click and drag series to update the Recon directives and where I want them to go. Note that when you do drag them at least one hex, the flight path and staging base is automatically shifted to reflect the current location of the involved AOGs. I set up a new Recon directive in Luftflotte 2 to include the new Koluft 2 AOG I brought to the map last turn. I have decided not to include any new AOGs to the Ground Support directives since I have not begun to move up the bombers and the range would be too far and the operational losses would be high.

T04 Freight:

Everyone is still enjoying more supplies than needed. I am enjoying this as long as I can. Once the rains come this will shift to less than needed.

T04 AGN:

18th Army takes Parnu. 16th Army has begun to take over the defense of the right flank. 4th PG continues to expand their holdings near Pskov.

T04 AGC:

2nd Army continues to reduce the Bialystok Pocket. 4th Army is taking over the central part of the line on the western bank of the Dnepr River. 9th Army is taking over the line on the northern flank mostly north of the Dvina River. 3rd PG has formed a pocket around Vitebsk. 2nd PG has forced its way across the Dnepr River in three spots - each corps forming its own bridgehead.

T04 AGS:

6th Army is advancing in support of the 1st PG in the north. 17th Army is advancing in the middle of the line. 11th Army and the Rumanians form the southern portion of the line and is nearing Odessa. The Hungarians have almost eliminated the pocket along their border.

I advanced some AOGs of all types along the front where the supply and air base capacity are good. I also managed the RESERVE Theater Box to keep the incoming air and ground units coming onto the map at full strength.
