Centopraph of IJN Tama

Post by morejeffs »

As mentioned in a different posting I live in lovely Fuchu Tokyo.

Right near Fuchu train station is a very large Shinto Shrine, Ookunitama Jinja 大國魂神社

And in the grounds of the shrine is a centograph in honor of the light cruiser IJN Tama. 多摩 (軽巡洋艦)

It was sunk off of Leyte.. Information is here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_cruiser_Tama

There is also a monument with the names of all the sailors who perished

There is also a small shrine to honor the famed Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu

It is amazing how well these old cruisers served throughout the war.

Tried and true with the bugs worked out of them so they would be reliable. Maybe not spectacular but reliable none the less.
