Old photos of military vehicles

Post by DeepBlack »

Often when looking at old images of WWII era
vehicles, the vehicles will look like a specific
kind of black and white photo.

Hard to explain except to say the photograph almost
seems like a highly accurate hand drawing as much as
it looks like an actual photo.

These are examples of the type of picture I am
talking about:

Is there any word for this style of Black & White photography?
It is distinctive enough that I associate it with old
photos of taken from 1920's thru 1930's.

Are these actual old photos or just photos of models? Either way they look like they been taken in a light box:

That may be it, I just don't know if they are models or not.
I suspect they are contemporary photographs of actual vehicles
and that this was a common photographic "style" back then.

I mean, this could be a model or a drawing but it is probably an actual picture of
a real Sherman tank.

I should ask this in a forum that specializes in old photography discussions.
