Unescorted bombers

Post by 39battalion »

Playing as the Axis and losing a lot of unescorted bombers.

I'm using AI assist and it seems to plot a lot of ground support and ground attack missions beyond the range of escort fighters.

Not sure how to handle this. Is it possible to manually change the air directive screen so that these missions only occur within fighter range while still using AI assist ? Or would it be necessary to switch off AI assist and do everything manually ?

I believe the switching of the Partial Escort:Yes to No should solve the problem, it seems it can be done on the Air Directives screen.

I noticed the problem too, the AI seems to be too reckless with sending out unescorted bombers

You can also toggle Ground Support on and off. So when you get beyond the range of the fighters you can turn GS off and save your bombers. WitE2 is very unforgiving to unescorted bombers on both sides of the war.

It would be nice if one could define this when making the Air Directive. A fly GS only if escorted checkbox.

Agree. Also it would be nice to see before a battle how many and what kond of planes will be involved
