Bug?? Took Riga with a scouted attacked.

Post by king171717 »

I took Riga with a 1:1.9 roll. This makes no sense. I had a 124 roll into a 5 and they had a 235 roll into a 11. I got a scouted attacked but then the rd routed.

What gives. I might have to reload and do it again if this a bug.

Reloaded and it happen again. NVKD mot RD shattered despite being a roll to 5 to 7 for them.

This is 100% normal. Riga is being held by an under strength Division and you can still win even when you do not get a 2:1 odds or better. Multitude of factors attribute to the combat results but under strength was the primary one, if I remember from BETA, being the major reason for the retreat/shatter.

I don't think it is a bug. I believe that there is a chance a low morale and TOE% unit can rout or shatter on defense even if the combat odds are less than 2:1

Actually if you look closely at the combat you will PROBABLY find that all of the defending elements were destroyed/damaged/disrupted and thus had no status for defending the hex. I have seen this many times while playtesting - the defending division was just a shell and it was really easy to blow it away with a panzer division.

But if I'm not wrong destroyed/damaged/disrupted elements should not be counted for final CV calculation and defending unit in this case had enough final CV to hold his position. I wonder why is it retreated.

the combat system makes a distinction between combat elements and support elements, so you can trigger one of these results if the fighting portion of a formation falls below a critical value (usually related to experience), so sometimes it can look quite strong but its weak in that it has little effective combat power

You can get somewhat interesting results even when calculated odds show different.

That is mainly as said, morale and not having real combat power. Those "blanket stackers" might not want to deal with Panzer division, for example.
