Units on Lake Ladoga in RtL

Post by pmm13 »

I've played the Road to Leningrad as German against Soviet AI. As I was in process of capturing Leningrad a Soviet infantry division appeared on Lake Ladoga. This happened on consecutive turns towards the end of the scenario. I haven't read and understood the manual from cover-to-cover yet, so maybe it is something intended but it does not look like it. I have two screenshots of this and auto-saves as well. Can't post them here since I'm not over the 10 post limit yet, let me know if you want them and how I can send them.

This is likely a division the AI was transporting, only to find the port was captured. Did it remain or disappear in the next turn as it went back "home"?

It was not present in the next turn so it went somewhere.

I just emailed you after looking at your saves. Would need saves from the Soviet turns as those you sent don't show any units out at sea and they didn't go to sea by ending your turn. It would help to know what phase they first appeared in the Lake. As Erik says, this could just be the AI moving units over the lake but not successfully getting them into port. This would not be illegal, just not to bright.

I sent you a link via email where you can find Soviet saves from turn 10-15.

Yes, confirmed they moved out to sea during Soviet turn but could not duplicate it and Gary has since 1.00.07 added new code to make it even less likely for this to happen based on an earlier incident. So hopefully this will happen even less in the future. Thanks for the saves.

OK, thanks for looking into it. Any chance of having a sea-transport symbol on a unit like that in the future?
