National Morale:

Germany - 104%
Japan - 87%
Italy - 63%

Presumably Italy will shortly take a big hit when Addis Ababa falls.

India - 92%
USA - 89%
UK - 85%
USSR - 76%
China 69%

As expected, all major indicators - convoy income etc - going the wrong way for the Axis now.

I am hoping the pressure being applied by the Germans means reinforcement is not what the Soviets were hoping.

The Commonwealth naval units are more numerous - although they lost two carriers - and I must expect reinforcement from Europe imminently. What the Japanese wouldn't give for another army to join Mutaguchi... but he will have to make do with what he has.....

That wasn't in the script... I appear to have neglected to take Guam and now have lost Peleilu... Poor play yet again....

The Northern sector got off to a bad start and never recovered. There was a brief flash of what might have been courtesy of the Finns taking Archangelsk, but that is a long distant memory....

Dare I hope that this is why there are so many Army dead. There seems to be a dearth of Army strength units in this sector..... I keep expected a horde of Soviets to appear in my flanks at any time....

10 - 24 September 1943

A total disaster of a turn for the Germans. The Allied airpower is simply too great. Plus losses in the USSR too.... oh dear.

But we start on the Manchuria/Korea border, where the Japanese have also taken a pasting....

I have no choice but to sit tight on all fronts and wait developments. Initiative has gone completely from the Japanese.

In the Soviet Union all points of attack have not only ground to a halt, but I've lost a panzer corps and am about to lose another.

South of Moscow I reduce an AA to 1-point and can't get a unit to reach to finish it off.

Kuybyshev is also 1-hex out of reach....

South of Leningrad, the Soviets are too strong for any attack let alone advance. Total and utter disaster. That is it for the Germans in the USSR.

In the West, I have to abandon my positions in western France to try and make some kind of line.....

Next turn, if the weather allows - and assuming I have any units left - there will be a withdrawal everywhere.

I guess this was always the danger of not retreating in good order early enough.

The war continues to deteriorate for the Axis. The Germans have left it too late to withdraw and can't even form a line. They desperately need for aircraft not to fly next turn or its curtains....

The US land in the P.I....

Only in Burma is there any sort of good news. The RN lost a heavy cruiser and the British lost an army and a corps as the 7th Sasebo landed behind the lines.

I've seen it all now. A Japanese BB attacks a AVL and..... damage is evaded....completely.....

The Chinese make their move - as do the Soviets, although I was able to destroy a Soviet army which was unexpected.

The only vaguely positive news is that progress continues to be made in Burma
