That's optimal for the game, and there's on option for increasing the UI scale if the text and other UI elements appear too small.

How good is your eye-sight?
As an older gamer I need a large monitor & the 'devs' have been very kind in addressing this issue per scaling the text.
The game is excellent so you will not be disappointed per the play.
Per using a laptop, you can always connect a larger monitor to it (as I do)...if you need to.
