Allied Aircraft not being Produced when Scenario modded?

Post by anthonykevinluke »

Hi,

I was wondering if making modifications to an aircrafts speed and pool in the data base can prevent it from being produced? I modified the Ironman scenario (putting it under another save so as to not interfere with the original) by adding 600 P40E into their pool and increasing their speed by 10 mph just to see what would happen. However, I am at 15 mar 42 and it appears that not a single P40E has been produce when looking at the aircraft replacement pool? So .... any ideas from the forum?

regards,

Tony Luke

Aircraft are produced either from factories (which will consume HI points) on from a designated build rate.

The Allies have no on-map factories which crank out P-40s of any type. (If I recall they were mostly built in New York State) So unless you set a replacement rate for those modified P-40Es, it seems the 600 you put in the pool is all you'll ever have for that scenario. It sounds like it'd be enough though.

I think you can only have a certain number of months worth of production in the pool. After that, the factories stop producing them.

Thanks all. I think BBfanboy may be right as I didn't change factories or anything else, just the pool and acft speed.

Anthony, I would add that when you modify the scenario for aircraft models, you should remember that aircraft arrive in several ways: (1) in the Starting Pool (on the aircraft's starting date), (2) from monthly "Builds" which usually (but not always) represents off or non-map factories, (3) from monthly production of on-map factories, (4) from arriving air units (land-based & shipboard) that already have a number of aircraft assigned at arrival. #1, #2 & #3 add aircraft to the Pool. #4 does NOT pull starting aircraft from the pool. Another thing to keep in mind are the starting & ending dates of the aircraft models, as well as the upgrade paths for the aircraft (builds/production) themselves. NOTE: These paths are NOT (repeat NOT) the same as the Upgrade Paths for each individual Air Unit. Also the British Kittyhawk IA is the P-40E export version, so you may want to be consistent with these two in their performance numbers.

(5) in the cargo of arriving allied convoys. These are added to the pool.

The maximum pool size, before #2 deliveries are suspended, is documented.

Maybe that is the answer - changing the pool number does not mean the aircraft are added to the pool, it just changes the maximum size?

I'm tending to "no" - it is a function of X months x monthly replacement rate in the pool, puts a moratorium on arrivals as replacements via Dan's type #2. Other arrival methods are unaffected.

So, for example, if the OP dumped 600 P40E in the pool against a monthly replacement rate of say 50, he liekly hit that moratorium number.

Looking for the reference did remind me that allied 4E bombers cost 18 x 4 = 72 HI to bring into the pool. So much for turning off allied HI to save fuel.
