With the temperature clearing a little, Axis troops decided to mount an offensive with limited success. Supply is problematic in the region and troop recovery suffers accordingly with the need to often use pack mules in short supply across the mountains in bd weather; those same mountains that are providing good defenses for Greek soldiers. Nonetheless, some limited progress was made West of the country where Italian alpine troops reached the Corinthian Gulf, threatening the flank of the Greek defenders blocking the way to Athens.
In Egypt, the AfrikaKorps mounted and offensive at the British line near El-Alamein. The Italian XX Armor Corps remained in reserve. However, the German offensive failed to dislodge the British defenders. Local coordination problems meant that contact between Blaskowitz's headquarters and front line troops was lost during the battle.
