Getting the most out of the Commander's Report

Post by squatter »

I'm sure I'm not getting enough beans out of the Commander's Report. I'm sure there are all kinds of tips and tricks out there to make your QoL better through smart CR usage.

So I thought I'd start a thread where players could throw suggestions in... more the merrier

For starters

1 (thanks to M60)

To move all support units on the map to Stavka, go to HQ tab of Commanders Report.

Just above AC column, see Support Level? Click on that and set to 0. Then click Supl on Stavka. Type 9. That will move them beginning next turn.

Commanders Report should always be frequently used and it's highly recommended everyone get comfortable with it. A few things I use it for, but not exhaustively:

1. DtHQ Column in Unit tab - let's me know if a unit is out of command range.
2. MP Column in Unit Tab (hidden by default) - I can see if there's a high MP unit I forgot to move
3. TOE% Column in Unit Tab - check to see if there's any weak units I need to move to depot or reserve and refit.
4. Use rotate depleted in the AOG tab. This is what AI assist does automatically but if you don't play with AI Assist it saves a lot of time.

- Mass transfer your weak units to the national reserve for rebuilding:

Might be worth pointing out here for newcomers that you can type in a range of morale/experience at the bottom right of the screen, and filter only units with a particularly low EXP for example, then use the 'transfer' button at the top to transfer them all in one fell swoop to the reserve.

towards the end of a turn, select 'arrived' just in case you've missed something.

also 'loaded' in case you have something on a train but not near the front lines

It might very well be a lack of knowledge on my part but i really miss the pop-up showing the commander ratings when wiewing the HQ or unit tab.

In WITE1 i used to click on the - show subordinates - button on the army, armygroup unit info screens to get a listing of the units and could easily check the ratings of the subordinate HQ leaders by howering over the HQ units. A nice way to check the stats of the subordinate commanders of that formation.

I further think some possibilities still exist to make the CR-screen even better. Why not also use the right mouse button...On some of the selectable items leftclick could filter the screen according to that unit and right clicking could bring up the unit/equipment info screen for example.
