It is all the Western Allies can do to get three units landed... but at least a port is in the Allies hands - at least for now.

A panzer corps and an infantry corps were destroyed this time - which I think was decent as no aircraft can fly again. It will be interesting (and perhaps crucial) to see if the Germans continue to make a stand here. I suspect they will as this is their last river line in the north until beyond Wilno.

Trondheim offered remarkably little resistance considering how difficult it was to make progress previously.

Well that all fell flat. The Soviets and the Western Allies took an absolute pasting...

... but we'll start in southeast Asia.

The last resistance in the NEI is removed.

In southern China the US Marines - supported by Indian and other Commonwealth forces, make an inroad into Formosa and Hainan. The Japanese look strong here in the army department and so I need to continue to be a little cautious - but not too much as time is not on my side.

As said previously, the Soviets took a huge number of losses of tanks and infantry. But the Soviets have hit back and destroyed a panzer, panzergrenadier (possibly), army and corps. They have also weakened an artillery unit.

In Western Europe the invasion fails again. Only Brest is held by a weakened US armoured corps.

So my last roll of the dice. I order all available paras to land. A German panzer corps is destroyed and a panzergrenadier is weakened. So it depends what else he has to destroy my paras. The coastal fortress unit northeast of Brest is apparently invulnerable to air attack....

Once again the Soviets get badly smacked about. The Western Allies manage to hold onto their enclave in northwestern France.

But we start as ever in the Pacific.

The remaining Japanese units on mainland Asia are shown here. The Japanese don't appear to be doing much about evacuation or (possibly) reinforcement. As mentioned previously I suspect that all efforts are going into building a strong Home Islands defence.

As can also be seen, Formosa is in US hands and, out of picture, 11th Army has landed on Okinawa (where there is one Japanese garrison in the south).

Meanwhile, chez Finland, the Soviets have launched an amphibious invasion. This didn't go quite to plan but will hopefully give the Finns something to think about....

The Soviets took a battering in the south, but Chernyakhovsky continues to press and destroyed a paratroop corps and got a (tenuous) bridgehead over the river....

But the main action continues in this sector. I lost count of what actually was lost on both sides. Blows continue to be traded south of Polotsk - with the Soviets being hard hit. But pleasingly, a bridgehead was created on the Gomel front and two German units weakened. I am hoping the panzer corps northwest of Minsk is one that was in the Gomel sector last turn as this suggests the Germans might just be getting stretched.

Finally to the utter carnage that is the Western Front. Numerous sea battles took place that saw at least 1 BB, 1 CC, 1 x CA and an MT sunk.

The paras were almost wiped out, but there were landings in southwest France, and Bordeaux was, at least for now, taken. This combined with Brest being likely safe, gives me a little hope....

I'm starting to hear creaking from the German armed forces. Given your apparent massive MMP lead it's hard to see how they can keep holding the line. Of course, I think I sound like Haig in 1917 when I say that. :)

Sadly not JB. Last turn (which I have yet to write up) the Soviets took an almighty battering. I've can't afford any R+R turns, but will have no choice or I will simply run out of units. Very depressing.

I think I am hanging on in the west just about....

I'll write up tomorrow or Saturday.

As mentioned above, that turn was a real slap in the chops for the Allies. The Germans are just too strong.

We start with the Leningrad Front which continues to go nowhere. I decide to try and force the issue by landing in Hanko and threatening Helsinki.

I've been able to achieve nothing in the main battleground this turn and almost all my armour is almost destroyed. The German air force will destroy them for free next turn which is just so depressing.

I have to stay positive - only a few turns ago the Germans held Vitebsk so....
