Do they know there is war on - Soviet LL to Finland?

Post by Vermin »

It looks like the Finns are quietly receiving Soviet tanks and artillery from Russia with which to convert into Finnish units. It looks like the Finns are building up to the turn limits in every area the Soviets have surplus transferable equipment. Since in the test game the Axis has captured exactly zero soviet equipment (I skipped their movement turns), this was a surprise. I assume that ALL captured equipment now goes to Germany (since in other games the Rumanians and Hungarians etc never capture anything at all and draw from the German captured pool. Trouble here is, the Axis have captured nothing but the Finns are still getting their soviet tank/artillery to convert up to the turn caps. Soviet LL to Finland perhaps!

Tested it with a special vehicle for Rumania - same thing. Calls to import captured SU equipment from the captured pool (presumably the German captured pool since no one else seems to acquire their own pool of captured SU equipment)instead goes directly to the Soviet SU pools instead. So vehicles and artillery, if present in the Soviet's pool will be effectively lend-leased for free to the enemy! Certainly a bonus for the axis! See the Finnish BAB and BAC A/Cs for example.

Those are stuff Finns captured from Soviets in Winter War and in 1941. There was LOT of that.

So it is totally historical.

Some of the stuff is listed here:

If these are trophies, then they should be visible in the reserve at the beginning of the game!

Confirm the same with Soviet equipment going to Germans. It's not being subtracted from the captured pool.

As I said, I created a new Rumanian tank to import form a new soviet tank that only existed in the soviet replacement pool - and the Soviets nicely sent them without any being captured. I assume the Soviets are importing brand new PzIII and IV for conversion to SU76(g) or similar too!

They were coming slowly through depots. Lot of it was not immediately ready, since they were checked and often slightly modified.

BTW, it is also possible that there is a bug in routines.

And I have checked the other side of the hill and indeed it is the exact same items being drawn in the exact same quantities from the Soviet pools.... eek - it's a BUG!

Do you have a save before and after the Soviet tank is imported into a Romanian tank?

as it happens :)
The later save also shows the Bulgarian Air Command employing both Soviet and Axis units - but I'm pretty sure this is connected to the AI not being able to cope with a Bulgarian AOG.
