NPF Play problem

Post by MBogdasarian »

My friend and I are both on the internet together using the same version of WiF and can get things started from my computer only (same operating systems) to the point we have chosen a scenario, selected the options, added the player names and assigned sides. He receives a message to start the game ("yes") and the game begins loading ONLY ON MY COMPUTER while he is kicked back to the opening screen which has "Play Game", "Forum", etc. on it. Since I am playing the Germans (although the same thing happens if I am selected to play the Russians), he cannot set up. In the version in which I play the Russians, I can set up but he can't see anything. We loaded up the Beta version v04.02.00.00 to try to fix the problem, but it did not. I have tried to access the other version in the Dropbox but am having trouble getting Dropbox to open. I admit I haven't looked through hundreds of postings, but thought this would be an easier approach.

Are you absolutely sure the players names you use when starting the game are identical to the names you have on the netplay forum? Even the case of the letters must match.

Only one of you selected scenario and options, player names et al, isn't it? The other just joins. If you are both selecting it doesnt work. I did it wrong a couple of times until I realized what was wrong.

We will try again and avoid the pitfalls outlined, although my best recollection is that we avoided that latter trap.

We got Barbarossa to play by going through a slightly different system which was not outlined properly in the manual. Once we hit the saved game file we found which one we could play. However, Guadalcanal, Fascist Tide, Day of Infamy, and Miss the Bus do not load but hang up on political relationships.

What version are you running? Version 04.02.01.02 (and later) should have solved this problem.
