A Few Quick Questions?

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

A Few Quick Questions?

Post by Adamo »

I've been an avid Steel Panthers:WAW player for years but what little I've read about KP is making me want to give it a try. But I've got a couple of quick questions for you, the experts:

1. Are there multiple scenarios in the game or is it just one campaign?

2. Can you play as either Germany or Soviet Union?

3. Is there multiplayer?

4. Is it as good as everyone says it is?

5. Are there any major flaws in the game?

thanks in advance for any input!

Multiple scenarios

Play as either side or both sides

Can play by PBEM

Its a great game. If you have WIN 98 then download TAO2 and try it.

The only flaw is that there is only two maps. But modders are working on that.

TAO is The Ardennes Offinsive (version 2 I think). It does not run on Win XP. TAO (3?) comes on the Korsun disk, so you are actually getting a second battle.

I saw TAO 1 on a demo disk years ago, bought the game and loved it. It was saddenning to read on their web page that they were discontinuing the series. I bought Korsun Pocket based on magazine reviews and was most pleasantly surprised to see that it used an upgraded TAO engine, and actually contained a new version of that game! It is great to see that someone saw the greatness of that game and revived it.

The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of a map zoom feature (which TAO1-2 has), but this is being addressed in the patch. I just wish it would zoom the entire battle map instead of the magnifying glass thingy they are going to implement. Full map zoom must be a very difficult programming problem to solve, or I am sure the developers would have included it. I would like to ask the developers if a full-map zoom feature is planned, or even possible.

I just bought the game and TAO isn't included.

TAO is on the KP disk

The Ardennes Offensive scenario is on the KP disk.

I have played it - it is there. Unless, of course, there is no spoon. . .

Ah. Now I see that it's the "other scenario." From the previous posts I thought that it was an extra game on the cd. Guess I should have started with a full game instead of the tutorial. :D
