EMP/CC Light Titan - "Search and Seizure"

Argh. I ran this thing 5 times against ace to hero opponents in 70 tons, and got totally stomped every time.

Why does this mech seem to suck? Standing off, I wasn't doing any damage, and the buggers just got right back up again from engine hits. In close, getting them on the floor was nice, but it didn't happen often enough to save my bacon.

Well, your armor is kinda thin for a CC light. Your heat dissipation is not fantastic either, considering you have 2 energy weapons and you'll have to run a lot being CC. The EMPs are weapons that don't do any armor damage, so you'll be stuck with the PXs for damage. The EMPs are weapons of some degree of chance, but lights usually don't pack too many electronics to be very affected by them. Engine hits can cause shutdowns, but power-ups are relatively fast, and it's not guaranteed they'll fall down.

The big problem seemed to be that the EMP's weren't knocking out stuff much, and they sure weren't keeping things down. Thin armor and poor heat capacity weren't helping, but half the offensive capacity is kind of wasted.

I suppose this kind of mech might still work pretty well in a support role...maybe a medium with emp's and a NB would be better, though.

I haven't played with anything past medium titans (just beat C2) - have you had luck with EMP's equipped on larger mechs?

I had much success with my assault sporting :

1 x Gauss
1 x AC12
1 x Plasma
1 x Large Laser
1 x EMP
1 x Light Meson

I have a jock with 90+ both on energy and cannon but even on lower ranks I had nice hits with the EMP. Nevertheless it cann happen that it is nearly ineffective one battle and outstanding another. Its .... luck. I have enough weapons to compensate.

I also has a nice tournament team with 5 mediums, each having decent armor, 1 main energy weapon (plasma,CLG,BRG...), 1 EMP each + chainsaw and vibra for close quarters. 5 EMP can cause some confusion in enemy ranks.

I had some awesome success with the Instigator in the updated database. It packs 2 BRGs and a EMP. The EMP really combos nice with the BRG in alot of ways. If the enemy has fallen the EMP has a fair shot at tripping them agian as they stand. The BRG start fires really well which combos with the EMP cutting off heat regs. EMP can turn off the shields and also isn't effected very much by cover. Just seemed to have a good synergy with this weapon setup.

Took a quick look at the S&S. Some suggestions... Rebuild it on a L1 chassis instead off a L3, will give you more free wieght and much better stability. Drop the engine by a level, you will not be able to recharge at full rate if your moving but not significantly slower and in a light that much wieght used elsewhere will easily compensate. Change the armor in the legs and CT to Millinia and drop the heat reg to a level 3. Add some more armor and if theres any free wieght look into adding jump ports, flares, and/or a better LS (or your REALLY going to hate fighting agianst a Paladin) Interesting weapon combo.. will have to try it out :) 1st time you have the EMP hit the jump ports on a titan trying to DfA you.. they're worth thier wieght in gold.

Well I wanted to try this thing out so I made some of the changes I mentioned and got it running the way I like.....BUT you're right this weapon combo blows:p played 5 quicky battles with novice jocks agianst random lights also with novice jocks... went 0-5 (hangs head in shame... but I came close once;)) The EMP really needs a combo weapon or this titan may work well as a totally support titan or it could be good in numbers agianst larger titans (with lots of internals, slower moves, more Heat Reg locations, etc... but by itself ... ICK!
btw.. here's how I played with the design... I added JPs (these worked very well) and with all the 'run and gun' I had to supe up the heat dissapation.
