Has there been a list of of the changes posted yet of what will be 8.0? Other than the OOB changes what else has been modified or tweaked?

Having been an 8.0 contributor and member of the MCSE team, I've been able to play with the new OOBs for a while. However, things were being tweaked up until the final submission to Matrix. There will be a comprehensive read me file attached to the 8.0 OOBs, but I'm not allowed to tell you more. There will be the inevitable nitpicking and grumbling, but this will be the final "official" OOB release for SPWaW by Matrix. Please note that these are fitted to the limitations of the game engine, so they are not 100% accurate with historical TOEs/OOBs for any given nation. My main concern was with the USMC, and I'm very happy with the revisions. I've conducted a few long campaigns with the revised USMC/Japanese OOBs, and the player will be given the opportunity to construct very realistic core forces and upgrade in accordance with historical reality. I can speak more on the specifics after the public release, which will be within the next few weeks. Bear with us--it will be worth the wait.

Thanks! And I just thought everyone was ignoring me :( Can't wait for 8.0 and I understand the need for a "Final 0fficial release" from Matrix. That is good so they can concentrate on Combat Leader ! :D

I guess one tidbit can't hurt: all MMGs and squad weapons (like BARs) will have some PEN value. ;)

However, there is no truth to the rumor that M4's will now explode using the "ammo dump destroyed" explosion effects, when suffering anything greater than a "near miss" by a BB gun... Despite how hard I lobbied for it on "historical accuracy" grounds. Image

It would seem more appropriate. :p

Oh the wet paper bag armour armour was an innovative approach, well soaked in fuel it burnt up quickly so the crew didn't suffer much. :)

Can anyone feel the love of the Shermans flowing in this topic?
Yes I am insane, I share my mind with a cat.
No I do not want to go to bed with you, so quit asking.
My idea of a relaxing morning is driving over my Fiancée's new boyfriend with an M1A2, but not because I'm jealous (it's because he's an absolute prick)

Amen brother! I can feel the love! Image I can feel the power of the Sherman! It surrounds and envelopes me! It makes me warm, and tingly! Halliliuah! It burns deep into my flesh! Flesh that is weak, as the Sherman is strong! It...

Oh...

Wait...

Nevermind. I dropped a cigarette in my lap and set my pants on fire.Image It wasn't the love of the Sherman after all. Image

Other Changes to Version 8.0

Post by Jarhead »

Other than OOB changes to 8.0 are there any others? I remember hearing (or thought I read) about some changes in the online play of SPWAW or maybe it was they were looking for the problems so that they could be fixed. I dont remember which; does anyone else have insight on this? Image

That was the talk alright. However, I've heard no details about what the 8.0 release will fix or change, other than the OOB's. We'll have to wait and see. :)
