US reinforcement/deploy list oddities.

WarPlan Pacific is an operational level wargame which covers all the nations at war in the Pacific theatre from December 1941 to 1945 on a massive game scale.

US reinforcement/deploy list oddities.

Post by nowherman »

I've noticed a few oddities in the US reinforcement/deploy list for the Pacific 1941 campaign.

1. The 24th Division arrives on March 2, 1942 but the 24th Division starts at Honolulu. The one in the deploy list should be
the 23rd Division possibly?
2. Colorado BB arrives Dec 23, 1941 and Aug 1, 1942. Two Colorado's. Colorado was undergoing a refit when the Japanese
attacked Pearl and wasn't available until late March, 1942.
3. North Carolina BB arrived in the Pacific in June with the Wasp. The deploy list has the North Carolina arriving on April
21, 1942.
4. Indiana BB was in the Atlantic undergoing trials until November, 1942. Indiana arrived in the Pacific mid-November, 1942.
The deploy list has the Indiana arriving on April 30, 1942.
5. Alabama BB was in the Atlantic until August, 1943, mostly operating with the British Home Fleet. The deploy list is off
by a year.
6. Iowa BB. This was the first one I noticed. Iowa served in the Atlantic until Jan, 1944 before arriving in the Pacific.
The deploy list has the ship arriving on Aug. 27, 1942.
7. Mississippi BB was one of the first battleships sent to the Pacific after Pearl Harbor, arriving in Jan. 1942. The
deploy list has the Mississippi arriving Oct. 7, 1942.

That's all I've looked at so far.

Thanks so much for this list. I had a hard time finding exactly when these ships arrived. I corrected all of it.

Thank you for fixing these Alvaro. Unfortunately I think I found a bug with regard to your changes. Playing the Pacific 41 scenario as the Allies, on Jan 4, 1942 I received a message about the arrival of Yorktown, Saratoga, Colorado, and 2 DD groups. All but the Colorado were available to deploy. The Colorado was missing and is still in the deployment list as arriving on Aug 1, 1942.

One other thing I forgot to mention in the first post. Idaho and New Mexico BB's also arrived in the Pacific along side Mississippi. All three arrived in the Pacific in Jan 1942 and spent several months operating along the US west coast.

That is just a message in the events script. The Colorado is arriving at the correct time. I'll fix it next patch.

Idaho seemed in training till April 3rd 1943 according to Wikipedia

New Mexico looks like started participating May 11th 1943 with the retaking of the Aleutian Islands. Before that she was training to convoy duty.

I'll add that to the list.

Thanks for the quick reply. Technically all three New Mexico BB's were refitting, training, or escorting convoys until 1943. I don't know if you would rather have them available as soon as they were in theater or when they actually started offensive operations. Thank you for fixing the Colorado. Already looking forward to the next patch.

The BBs in question with dates of arrival to the Pacific.

Unfortunately the links to Naval History and Heritage Command have not been updated.

For example this is the correct links to Idaho BB-42 with details on the dates.

You have a wealth of information in this site. For example:

The link to the US Order of Battle and reinforcements.
