Wide XXL shields against nuclear attack

Do wide XXL shields protect the city against nuclear attack? Should at least protect units a bit.

Noup, shields ONLY protect units, right now there is no way to protect your assets, thats why the first player to get ICBMs instantly wins the game

Noup, shields ONLY protect units, right now there is no way to protect your assets, thats why the first player to get ICBMs instantly wins the game

At least against the AI I've been managing to destroy the ICBM launchers (that spies have found) with my airforce before the AI has been able to attack with them. Also apparently they need to have 100 readiness to launch. Without the airforce I'd been in trouble. So at least in this game, as I was winning the attacking war against the AI, the AI will not automatically win the game even though it got ICBM's ages ago.

You don't need "100% readiness in order to attack" with them, its just the way you get the best bang for the buck, you only have to wait 1 turn after raising them (as every other unit). Also, as I said, "thats why the first player to get ICBMS instantly wins the game" since I'm pretty damm sure than the AI wasn't tested to use them AND every player by that point would have at least one independent SAM battalion per city, making sure than any airstrike its useless (plus leaving one shield to protect the ICBM from indirect attacks)
