15.8. DEATH OF A LEADER

Leaders can be killed and permanently removed from the game due to dismissal, headquarters relocation, air attack and other enemy action.
Leaders who are automatically dismissed due to poor performance (losing battles) may be executed. A low political rating increases the chances of a dismissed leader being executed.
There is a 15 percent chance that when a headquarters unit is relocated or forced to execute a displacement move, the assigned leader may be killed or captured.
In either case, if the HQ is isolated the chance of the leader being killed increases to 50 percent.

Yeah, but I have yet to have von Manstein's HQ displace and he still dies. :(

then you are the subject of my rule of this AAR post #390 without the displaced HQ,

"This is SOOOOOOOOOO true in WITE2. The wind blows wrong will have a leader loss."

There's no rhyme or reason, occasionally they just die in an accident. I've had a game where Zhukov died, and another with Vatutin dead. It hurts the Soviets a lot because they have fewer top tier leaders. I've seen cases where on turn 2 a Soviet leader dies in a pocket displacement, a good general replaces him, and then he immediately dies to a second displacement. Those 2-fers are a real downer. You just have to roll with the punches.

This Game is officially over

After conversing with Dodo98 it was in the best interest to end the campaign here. This being Dodo98's first German game H-2-H in WITE2 he did well. I thank him for the time we spent in the game and hopefully in the future we can once again meet on the battlefield. Please give a hand to Dodo98 a real stellar fellow! :-)
