Leader checks

Post by dontra85 »

When is the leader check done for combat. At the beginning of the turn or at the time of combat. In essence does a hq need to move forward keeping pace with the units or can it be moved after all combat units have been moved and still not have a modified check.

Others who are more knowledgeable can probably be more specific, but it is my understanding that there are multiple different leader checks (and for multiple different things) done at all sorts of different times. For example, there are some leader checks on admin rating for things like logistics, but then later on you also have other leader checks during the combat/movement phase which affect battle results.

The question is for the combat check the manual says only unit within 5 hexes get the 60%. When is that t check done. At the point of combat requiring his to possibly move forward in conjunction with the combat units or does being within the 5 hexes at the beginning of the turn suffice

its always at the moment of combat, so make sure your HQs are in range. And each combat includes an awful lot of dice rolls and tests vs leadership.

Note that for SU allocation, if its a hasty attack and you've moved the HQ, no SU will be allocated.

I want to "emphasis" what Loki100 pointed out here. This is huge & have to think where you put your HQ every turn if you want SU allocation & attacking.

Okay, where do you find the leadership rolls? I want to see who failed. Etc.

The leadership checks are not saved in combat situations. They are saved in the Supply Details for each unit (if it says FAILED then all of your leadership checks failed all the way up the chain of command).

Combat leadership checks occur in too many cases to track. Each element that fires is coupled with an Initiative leadership check (all the way up the chain if everyone fails) in order to determine whether it hit an enemy target (think of this as the leader ordering the elements to locations where they are able to fire best). So there are literally thousands of leadership checks made in each combat and are too many to track.
