Controlled hexes shading

Post by scout1 »

Any chance about making controlled hexes shading much more distinct ? Almost can't see the difference at this point ......

You can switch to Alliance control shading
Or edit the control image with the mods.

It's tough to make the colors match and blend well for this game without over painting the map.

You can't see the difference in blue and yellow control between Japanese and Chinese controlled hexes? It is clear as day to me. One is very dark vs the other.

Are you talking about units or hex control?

I'm thinking hex control Al .... I invaded Borneo as Japan, and frankly struggle to know what hexes I control ....

So you are talking about UK/USA vs Japan?

So talking about Japanese troops invading say a port hex and not sure if I also own the resources hex to the left or not so not sure if I need to move to the left to do so or move to the right to grab more .... So it is ownership I seek ..... and the shading is almost non existent to those of us with less than stellar eyesight ....
If not easy to shade the hexes themsleves without covering them, how about the hex outlines with a darker color ?

Does it matter who vs whom ? Maybe since you ask ..... right now I'm Japan and need old guy friendly shading or hex outline recognition as to "owned" hexes for the Imperial troops reagrdless where they are .....

Are you talking about NATO counters or silhouette? The NATO counters are distinct in the center differences.

NATO counters... yes- you're right and my eyes are now trained to look there. My reaction came from my confusion during the initial few hours with the game.

No problems now...

The colors are tough. I was going to make the Japanese red but... the Russians are red. Then ok make them yellow. Wait the Chinese are yellow. Ok change the Chinese to a light green... wait the USA is green, blue? No India is blue... ARG! So I came up with the center box variations.

Why not using the WIF color scheme:
Japanese - Red
Chinese - Yellow
Russians - Brown

Or keep Russia red and make Japan white or pearl (off white colour) and just inverse the colour scheme... white on the outside and the centre yellow.

Overall though... this game is amazing :)

Units counter colours can be changed with 'cut and paste' in the Campaign/scenario units.png file. There may be a better way in the editor, but this way gets the job done.

Editor doesn't have that ability. Changing the units.png and placing it in the campaign allows you to.

OK, let me start this again ....

From my chair, don't give a hoot or holler relative to unit colors ...
Do care about hex control which appears to be a VERY light shading, most of which I have trouble distinguishing .....

Want a VERY clear idea as to hex control on the map ......
