recon on same day or not?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

recon on same day or not?

Post by cato13 »

Is recon any more effective if flown the day before or same day as the mission or does it not make any difference?

I believe (emphasis on "believe" rather than "know for sure") that it's better to recon the first few days of the week and then bomb toward the end of the week. So recon days 1/2/3/4/5, and bomb days 5/6/7.

yeah, get the detection levels up before you bomb. If its a fixed asset it'll improve accuracy of the raid, if its a mobile asset will ensure you have a better chance to find it.

so say airbase bombing, a wide area AD will be refined for you by the results of your recon so you have the security of not missing the target and of not bombing empty airfields

Would a recon pattern of 12,,,,7 work. Ignoreing first turn it results in three consecutive days?

Yes, as recon both builds up and decays over turns and days within a turn.

Another question

AD have a priority with V High flying first during the day, low flying last or at least that's what the manual says. If this is the case would flying a recon V High and a bombing mission on say high have the same effect as flying recon the day before?

no

[;)]

all you do is ensure the recon mission gets priority for asset assignment (possibly escorts if you have it set up that way)

Being realistic, the recon pilots need to return, the films developed and analysed, the crews debriefed and this information passed to who-ever is controlling the bombing mission. Even recon in place, with radio interaction still has substantial lags.

Thought so to all that. Thanks
