manual questions

Post by incbob »

Per the Manual:

Air units within 8 hexes, or fewer if their range is shorter, of an enemy port that have remaining operation points
at the end of their turn might intercept and attack the supply convoy of an enemy and reduce its stockpile for the port. The air unit must be in support mode and have naval attack mission selected. They will still be able perform all actions available on the enemy turn.

So does this mean that an air unit can interdict two naval unit moves AND then also perform do supply convoy attack.

Also page 80 of the manual, under submarines specifically says, "Carrier fleets and air units may always attack submarine fleets."

carrier fleet may attack a submarine as if it was an air unit. When a carrier fleet attacks a submarine it uses 25% of its naval air power. ---- page 98

Page 64 says an air unit must be within 4 hexes of port to do supply interdiction

page 88 says an air unit must be within 8 hexes.

Which is it?

Does an air unit automatically attack a resource convoy route?

Somethings I missed in the manual when I edited it 3x for WPP. I am half way through reediting it again to post hopefully today.

Air units interrupt supply within 4 hexes (8 was for Europe)
Naval units interrupt supply within 2 hexes (4 was for Europe)

Subs may only be attacked by CVs near a coast. Sometimes things are said in two spots and I forget one.

Any naval or air unit may use 2 Opts on their turn then get 2 Opts on the enemy turn for interception.

Supply attacks by air require it to be in Naval Mission mode at the end of the turn and require no operation points. This was added just 2 months ago.
The same applies to naval units but CVs do not have to be in naval mission mode.

Why is it so complicated? Good question.

Because when I 1st designed this new concept of how to play there was nothing to compare it to. So I had to make up as best I could how the rules work trying to keep it simplified. But as time goes on you figure out post production what works and what doesn't work and why. So you adapt.

For the next version all this will be more streamlined.

I fixed page 80 of the manual. Thanks for spotting that. The other one was already fixed.

No problem at all. I was just getting clarification.

The is why something like the Pacific Theatre is just so complicated. I really think everyone does the European Theatre because it is easier.
