Marines and island hopping.

Having trouble getting my marines to island hop from San Cristobal to Guadalcanal.

Do they still need landing craft?
Do they have to have transports. If yes are you supposed to be able to load them on transports outside of a port or is it counted automatically.

I had a US marine unit.
I had supply.
I had operation points.
I had transports.
I had landing craft.

None of the moves in the image below worked.

From my understanding any type of ocean crossing is the same. So you can't hop there, you need to put your unit onto a transport using a port and invade the next island with landing craft.

Are those beach hexes you wish to island-hop to?

You might be out of movement to cross over. Sometimes you need to start in the hex you want to cross.

I just read the new manual Alvaro posted and I can't find where island hopping is explained. Am I just missing it or is it described somewhere else?

Nevermind my initial comment up there, from what I've seen now it looks like those hops are possible but only if your unit has full operation points, even when the move only costs 1. At least that's what it looked like for me in some testing I did today.
