Question about Air Unit numbers

Post by MaxValu »

In the Solomons scenario playing the Allies I am looking at my "Aus. 9th LR Bomber Grp" and there's a few things I hope someone can help me with:

1. I don't understand the relation between the Air Combat, Tactical, Strategic and Naval Air values on the left info screen, compared to the unit detail screen on the right. Air combat on the left is at 2 whereas it is 7 on the right for example.

2. This being a strategic air group, shouldn't max unit strength be 20 instead of 10 according to the manual on page 38? //edit: I guess this is a scenario specific adjustment. Just started the editor for the first time and saw what you can do there.

I bet I am missing something pretty obvious, looking forward to finding out what it is. Thanks in advance.

I believe numbers on the right image are the maximum values for the unit if it was at 100% strength, efficiency and experience whereas the left hand stats show the actual current abilities of the unit adjusted for those factors. Numbers are rounded as well so the actual value may be anywhere from 1.5-2.4 if the number shown is 2.

The numbers on the right are the statistics for the unit. Like if you look at a unit in WitE you see it has 12,000 men, 236 of this machine gun (that has X stats), 128 morters, 52 88mm artillery pieces, 17 stug IIIs (which have their own stats), etc, etc. Then on the map there is the overall combat value.

Same thing here. The left side shows the modified combat value based on the unit statistics, experience, effectiveness, and a modifier so you don't see a 5 digit number on the counter.
