I have subscribed to the Community Pack on Steam. I now have 2 copies of most of the scenarios on the Steam Workshop tab when going to load game in CMO. I may have subscribed twice...

Should I delete all the files in .../steamapps/workshop/content including the folder 1076160? Then get Steam to re-download the files?

If I need to deep rebuild Community Pack scenarios, I don't see any ini files for them in that folder. Should I then unsubscribe from the Community Pack in Steam and just download the files from https://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876 and put them into a Community Pack folder in the Scenarios folder?

You may be subscribed to the version of the CSP scenarios Baloogan uploaded to Steam. Deleting them will do no good AFAIK. Steam will just redownload them. You will have to go unsubscribe from them individually. Depending on how many there are and how many other scenarios you are subscribed too, easiest way is to just go to your subscribed items, unsubscribe from everything, then resubscribe to the CSP Collection and any other scenarios you are subscribed too.

None of the .ini files are included with the Steam version, if you want them you will have to get the manual download. My recommendation is to always get the manual download.

Thanks Kushan. I only subscribed to your managed CP. Nevertheless, I unsubscribed to the Steam packs and downloaded manually for the .ini files.

Thanks

For the average user there is really no need for the .ini files. They are only useful for upgrading scenarios to new DB's. For the most part I keep the standalone version updated to the latest for each release. Steam on the other hand is likely to see very little in the way of DB updates due to how much of a pain it is to use.

Ah, that's good to know regarding the standalone version of CP being kept up to date with the DB. I was wondering about that very question, hence my interest in the ini files. So deep rebuilds shouldn't be necessary?

When you say 'for the most part' does that refer to most scenarios are kept up to date, or mostly up to date with the latest DB for all scenarios?

Re Steam, presumably for new versions/releases of CMO (not beta...), the update will include the latest DB, and Steam should automatically update (given user preference).

The steam version will update the db in the main game, but my understanding is the scenarios in the workshop will only update if a player updates them or the author updates them and reposts them.

No, deep rebuilds should not be necessary.

The 'for the most part' means that while I run the batch update routine for every release sometimes something slips through.

Re Steam, Steam only downloads new versions of scenarios when the are uploaded. No scenario automatically updates to the latest DB, it has to be done manually or via the batch routine.

Would this be a good place to report an itty-bitty issue in one of the scenarios?

You're best to contact the scenario author either by PM or a thread in the scenario forum.

The work these guys do of their own free will and time is greatly underappreciated. Thanks to all the authors and organizers for the years of enjoyment.
