PBEM Helper is fixed for UV

Post by Drex »

I discovered that Harri Pesonen has improved David Heath's fix of the PBEM Helper for UV. I used to use the helper when I played SPWAW and we're talking 10 games at a time. So if you are a UV hound, the PBEM helper is a real dream as it automatically includes the combatsave file with your send as the Japanese. If both players are using the Helper then send files by the .pbm mode and when you receive the files, they are automatically loaded into the game. I can't seem to get my opponents to use it because they are unfamiliar with it but if others are using it then put in a good word!

Drex, I'll try it. Where do I find it? I don't see on Spooky's site.

Use your search engine to find "PBEM Helper". I typed in "Spooky's UV site" and one of the entries was the PBEM HELPER.

Problem with it is that it requires you to open and close the UV program every time you process a turn. For those of us who have discovered that if you minimize your UV, your saved games load in about 10 seconds compared to about 2 minutes or so for a first time load. I'm not talking booting the program, I am talking, loading a saved game. I prefer to let UV run on my slower laptop , freeing my gaming system up for some Savage or Homeworld 2 while I await drex to contemplate how he is going to lose yet another naval battle.

i feel so deprived at only having one computer for my wargames. However some of us don't have that privilege so I guess it is those people to whom I am addressing: The deprived. And of course you are referring to that Wus-slap I just gave you at Wunpuko? Let me lose more like that.

Actually I think when UV is minimized, it stops responding and frees resources. Yeah you wholloped me good. First swoop now you. But that's ok, at least your going to pay for your sins.

I started using Harri's program when it first came out and SPWAW was the only game it supported. I have missed it for a long time.
