Spam attacks

In one game my opponent and I are attacking often with single units instead of multiple. This (obviously) depletes attacker and defender effectiveness and is especially effective when the target is either at the end of their supply leash (port supply for Japanese in inland China) or invading (relying on beachhead). However, it seems to be really strong when 1) intentionally wearing down strong units (e.g., Japanese armies) with crap replaceable or soon-to-be-dead units (Chinese/Philippine) 2) preparing an isolated unit to get surrendered.

What are people's thoughts on this? In War in the East, this was used to drain enemy supply and ammo to prevent their defense for the main attack (not specifically an issue here). The fix was to increase subsequent attack costs by 1 (when infantry have up to 16 MP and armor up to 50). That might be overkill here where units have only 5 OP, but should something like this be considered? For full disclosure I'm the one doing most of these attacks in case it sounds like complaining [8D]

Not an issue in my eyes...That happens in WPE all the time. Polish units attack just to try to wear down and damage a unit.

WHAT they attacker does not think of...IF you unit survives and does not take much damage just effectiveness...it gains experience.

I had a unit gain 4% once and not lose a single unit.

I have stopped attacking like this unless I am pushing for a breakthrough. If it is just suicide then, experience is worth way more than a single replacement unit.
