Missing Brits

Post by WeyBug »

In our recent PBEM game the Allies have lost all of India, all of Australia and Auckland. Aussie land units have beguen to appear in LA. How about the Brit ships? It is 2/43 and no sign of the Warspite, Valiant, the CVs etc. Will they arrive in LA? Any idea when?

Shouldn't the Brit ships appear in Ceylon (meaning combat assets, not convoy stuff in Calcutta)? If you have lost that too, then I donno if they are gone or where they will appear.

Cheers,

Ceylon is long gone as well. Everything west of Johnston Island is Japanese now. I found a reference somewhere that Auckland becomes the replacement point for the Brits. Nothing British showed up in Auckland in our game.
Has anyone out there seen British ships appear anywhere other than India.

From interpreting the manual and observation of the game, each country has a reinforcement base where units appear. (See P. 52) If the base is captured, LCU's are re-routed elsewhere, but naval and air units are put on hold until the base is liberated. If everything west of Johnston Island is in Japanese hands, I don't think there will be any further British or Australian ships or aircraft. (Either the Japanese player is VERY lucky or VERY good!)
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Not sure about Ceylon, but in my game, after taking Sydney back in 1945 only some small Australian vessels arrived, but unfortunately no land units or air squadrons.
Please try to liberate India and Ceylon. It may give You shippies back.

Good luck!

I am the Japanes player so I have already liberated Ceylon and Sydney for the Greater Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. I was just looking for info for my worthy opponent. He (and I) expected his Brit ships to come through the west coast. It makes sense. Those ships could just as easily go through the Panama Canal and get to the Pacific that way.

If Japanese already had India...I think Brit fleet is prolly too busy trying to protect Middle East oil to send any surface ships to USA. That'd give one rational explanation for game fact :).

Good point. Maybe those ships are sitting off map to the west.
