What Partisans..?

Post by username01 »

In WITE(1) I just pressed P to check for Partisans activity. Here I understand it to be Cntrl 0 (nought) or Cntrl O as in the letter?
I pressed both and nothing showed up, I'm either lucky or there are none on the map as yet. It's about 29/7/41...would that be too early for them to show up? or am i selecting the wrong buttons?

I can't see much about it in the PDF manual. Thanks for any help.

Try the 'U' key. That will spring a bunch of red stars on the hexes where the partisans are active. If you get numbers then they are super active and you better help out the Soviet Garrison if you are Axis (if you are Soviet then celebration vodka is called for).

The only red bits i see on the map after pressing (U) are Airfields - which i assumed were Soviets, are actually mine as they have German planes on them. Still don't see any Partisans, they must be there somewhere as my supplies are low in a few places.

I need to swot up on how to do screen shots so as to show a clearer situation. Do you know if this game comes with it's own screen capture and paste buttons?

Thanks again.

The game does not come with its own screen capture and paste buttons. Most of us windows users use the Microsoft Screen Capture app (Snip & Sketch) which is very easy to use.

What turn are you on? Soviet partisans do not start showing up until turn 6 or so (when the Soviet Partisans event starts to occur).

Below is a screen shot from my latest AAR and you can see the Red Stars in it:

But how do you understand these red stars ? How do you know where/how many units to send to counter the partisans ? And so on ...

Read the manual section on Theatre Boxes. Essentially entire partisan war is abstracted via Soviet Union Garrison box. As long as you're over 100% ground requirement then you're at least keeping pace. You could put more to try and get more favorable events, but no matter what you do you'll always have partisans to some extent.

Also read the events list in Chapter 40 that lists the partisan events.

So it's not based on smaller regions like in WITWest ? It's a global requirement for the whole Soviet Union ?

its regional ... in that some regions are worse affected than others. The event list in ch 40 will show you where/when the partisan war intensifies

Right, I can see where the partisan activity is represented by red stars - with the (U) key?

I now have snip & sketch in my windows menus, but still need to work out how to incorporate it onto my game map as just pressing windows 'print screen' won't work.

Is there a game guide as to how the snip & sketch app works on this game?

Thanks again.

Snip & Sketch works the same with the game as with anything else. You can activate it, capture the area of the screen you wish, and then save it off in various save formats for use by other graphics programs or print directly from it.

It depends. If it's like Greeenshot (another printscreen program) you need to be in windowed mode to activate from the task bar with the mouse as keyboard shortcut won't work if WITE2 is in full screen.

That's what i figured, how to use the app whilst in full-screen mode? Windowed mode it is then for screen-shots, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Try Screenpresso, works ok for me. I used the Microsoft product supplied but it was a touch flaky....
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

It seems I don't really need to worry about 'Partisans' as such, since there's nothing about them in the E-manual. I guess their only impact would be in taking a few movement points from some units.

Time to move on to the objectives!.

well I can find section 13.4 and further stuff in section 40.9 [;)]

But yes, its designed as a system that needs minimal attention. As the Axis, if you can, get the Soviet Union garrison box over 100% (usually just send those fairly useless Rumanian cavalry brigades). That doesn't affect when the events fire but will minimise the severity

Just made a note of the manual location thanks, It's Aug/15/41 and thought it strange that no partisans showed up yet, So i'm minded to scrap the current campaign and start afresh whilst consulting an tutorial vid as i go. BTW i have not been getting any post battle reports on the supposed engagement sites on the map when using the mouse on the hexes. I know the engagements took place, because it shows in the following casualty reports. I have all the battle reports boxes ticked...thanks again.

I have never had much luck getting the partisans to appear on the map - does it only work during the air phase?

Indeed. "U" doesn't show me those neat red stars, but I would like to see them. Classy!

Any help appreciated.
