Convoy Mod (in progress…)

Ok, I’ve been working on a convoy mod for World at War.
I like more convoy routes… I like the opportunities to raid them, too… [:D]

It all started by tinkering here and there with the excellent game editor... And oh boy, it's been non-stop ever since! This game is just as fun editing it as playing it! [:D]

Here’s just a quick overview so far:

New operational convoy routes…

Singapore-Liverpool, Casablanca-Brest, Pointe Noire-Brest, Oran-Marseilles, Tunisia-Marseilles, Beirut-Marseilles, Tripoli-Taranto, Italian East Africa-Taranto (depends on the Axis controlling the Suez Canal), Helsinki-Königsberg.
The French convoys require a re-working of countries in French North Africa, Syria, French West and Equatorial Africa and of course, a French Surrender, with or without the Vichy Armistice. I think it’s fairly adequately modded but will post a question about this at some point… [;)]

Other modifications:

Some units have changed names. New Motorised and Bergsjaeger units. Bergsjaeger units have a +1 Action Point in Hills, Mountains, High Mountains, and Plateaus. Special Forces are now Marines, and have a +1 Action Point in Jungles. All Armour, Anti-Tank, and Mechanised units have a +1 Action Point in Deserts. Light Armour units can now obtain a second strike with Armoured Warfare research. Mechanised now get their second strike with Infantry Warfare. I’ve also made some moderate changes to some unit stats and researchable techs, mainly air and naval units. Naval units in general have slightly modified raiding effects and incorporate some of the interesting modifications from Henry Kellog's Naval War Mod, but more tied to research improvements.

The research tree has more modifications, including completely new interesting technologies.
For example: Naval Spotting, Carrier Operations, Convoy Interdiction, Artillery Warfare. Changed the names of certain game-default techs. Likewise modded are tech levels per research categories, their effects, and their costs.

The map has some changes: the north Cantabrian coast of Spain has a port (Gijón) in Asturias. France gets a port in Dunkirk. The UK gets a port in Dover. Norway gets a port in Tromsø. The Dutch-German border is altered for (what seems to me) a more realistic frontier. Sedan is now Field Terrain. Ardennes is now Forest Terrain. Irak has an additional Oilfield near Basra, to compensate the Oilfield at Abadan, which now belongs to Persia. Libya now has an Oilfield near the Sirte Basin.

This is still work-in-progress but I think it’s looking good so far…
